Squash
This autumn vegetable that symbolises Halloween doesn’t just serve a decorative function, but boasts a sweet and full-bodied flavour, and has extremely beneficial properties as well. In fact, it's rich in nutrients, including various minerals, vitamin E, amino acids, and carotenes (as one might guess from its orange colour), the latter of which play an active role in the body’s production of vitamin A. Squash even has soothing and laxative effects, and is considered an effective remedy for insomnia.
